Salzburgo es la capital del Land (estado federal) del mismo nombre en Austria. Salzburg is the capital of the Land (federal state) of the same name in Austria. Su nombre oficial en alemán es Salzburg (= Ciudad [de la] sal). Its official name in German is Salzburg (City = [the] salt).

La ciudad de Salzburgo se encuentra a pocos kilómetros de la frontera con la República Federal Alemana, su núcleo urbano se encuentra emplazado a orillas del río Salzach, ubicándose practicamente al pie de las estribaciones septentrionales de los Alpes: a pocos kilómetros del centro se encuentra el maciso alpino del Untersberg (1972 metros de altitud). The city of Salzburg is a few kilometres from the border with Germany, his village is located along the river Salzach, being located almost at the foot of the northern foothills of the Alps: a few kilometres from the centre lies the Alpine's massive Untersberg (1972 metres above sea level).
